Judo is a modern Japanese martial art and combat sport created in Japan, in 1882, by Dr. Kano Jigoro. The object is to either throw one's opponent to the ground, immobilize or otherwise subdue one's opponent with a grappling maneuver, or force an opponent to submit by joint locking or by executing a strangle hold or choke.

At Lovato’s Judo techniques are incorporated into our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes. We believe in being well rounded martial artists and Judo takedowns are an essential element to BJJ with the gi.
