2010 IBJJF No-Gi World Championships

Lovato Jiu-Jitsu - Monday, November 08, 2010

This past weekend in Long Beach, CA a group of the Lovato Jiu Jitsu team competed in the 2010 No-Gi World Championships.  The team has been training very hard leading up to this tournament and their hard work paid off.  As a whole, the team was able to bring home 9 Medals: 3 Gold Medals, 3 Silver Medals and 3 Bronze Medals.  Additionally, Rafael Lovato Jr was able to make history being the only American to win both the Gi and No-Gi World Championships.  His student, (and the first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt under the Lovato's), Justin Rader also won the Gold Medal in the black belt featherweight category.  Below are the rest of the individual results:

  • James Puopolo - Brown Belt Super Heavy 3rd Place
  • James Head - Purple Belt Heavyweight 2nd Place
  • Shiloh Roberts - Purple Belt Master Medium Heavy 3rd Place, Open Class 2nd Place
  • Rob Wood - Purple Belt Middleweight 2nd Place
  • Eric Gerdes - Blue Belt Lightweight Champion
  • Robert Bebout - Blue Belt Master Medium Heavy 3rd Place
