I am honored to hold a brown belt under Professor Lovato. My journey at Lovato’s began in 2012, and I started instructing after achieving my purple belt in 2016. Currently, I am responsible for teaching the 6am Jumpstart class and the intermediate Essentials II class. Having started at the academy as a white belt, I have witnessed numerous students and peers undergo their Jiu-Jitsu journey.

Over time, I have taught every level of class that we offer, and it is now my passion to assist others in discovering their inner martial artist and evolving within this art. Whether the goal is to compete, improve health, or learn self-defense, I firmly believe that Jiu-Jitsu can benefit everyone.

Additionally, I have achieved multiple medals at the Okc and Dallas Open in both Gi and No-Gi competitions.

I’m Professor Dylan Nguyen & very proud to say that I am a Jiu Jitsu Black Belt under Sensei Rafael Lovato Jr.
I began training at Lovato’s School of BJJ & MMA in October of 2012. In 2015, after earning my Blue Belt, I decided to go all in my martial arts journey competing in tournaments as much as I could & becoming an instructor at our academy. I’ve had the honor to be involved with all of our jiu jitsu programs, both Kids + Adults, sharing my knowledge & experience with the next generation of martial artists.
Competitively, I represent our team at the highest stages of sport jiu jitsu across the US, with my colored belt accolades consisting of: 2025 IBJJF Master World Champion (Brown), 2024 IBJJF American National Champion (Brown), 2x IBJJF Pan American Silver medalist (Brown), IBJJF Masters North American Silver medalist (Brown), IBJJF American Nationals Silver medalist (Blue), 2x IBJJF Pan American Bronze medalist (Purple & Brown), IBJJF No-Gi Worlds Bronze medalist (Brown), IBJJF No-Gi Pan American Bronze medalist (Brown), ADCC OKC Open -55kg Champion, as well as multiple time Champion & medalist at various IBJJF Opens at all the colored belts.
After winning my first World title I earned my Black Belt in the fall of 2025 from Sensei Lovato. Only having just begun my competitive career at this new level I look towards having continued success with my focus set on becoming a Black Belt World Champion.
Outside of the academy I enjoy spending much of my time going to music + art shows, exploring our incredibly diverse & growing food scene in OKC, & being around my family.

Mason Roy

Instructor

In 2014, started at Lovato’s and later became an instructor in 2021. I was honored to receive my brown belt from Professor Lovato in December of the same year. My passion for Jiu-Jitsu was ignited after years of participating in various sports during elementary and high school, including wrestling, football, baseball, and golf. Following a period of feeling like I was just “going through the motions” in college and a corporate job, I discovered the world-class Jiu-Jitsu at Lovato’s in my hometown of OKC, which has since become my true calling. I take great joy in helping new students and teammates uncover their own infinite potential and strength on the mats.

Training at this prestigious academy has not only led to my success in Jiu-Jitsu, both in competition and in personal growth, but has also enriched my life beyond the mats. Outside of Jiu-Jitsu, I am blessed with a wonderful wife of 12 years, two amazing children, and have even ventured into entrepreneurship by starting a landscaping company. Additionally, I have completed three full marathons and have ambitious plans for further pursuits in the realm of long-distance running.

In terms of my competitive achievements, I am proud to have earned the following distinctions in IBJJF competitions:

Silver medalist at the World Master Championship in the blue belt division (Gi)

World Master Champion at the purple belt level (No-Gi)

Although I don’t compete frequently, I achieved bronze at the 2021 OKC Open and the 2022 OKC Open in no-gi competitions.

Beyond BJJ, I devote most of my time to baking and spending quality moments with my family.

I have achieved multiple 1st place victories at the local competition level, excelling in both Gi and No-Gi. While I do enjoy occasional competition to test myself, my true focus and passion lie in continuously refining my technique to impart the best possible Jiu-Jitsu knowledge to every student I have the privilege to teach.

Beyond the mats, I cherish spending time with my family and pursuing interests such as amateur astronomy, gaming, marksmanship, archery, and traveling. I am dedicated to continually expanding my knowledge and skills in various areas.

Jared White

Instructor

My jiu jitsu journey began in early 2022. Before this, I had almost no knowledge of Brazilian jiu jitsu. Furthermore, I had no idea how quickly I would fall in love with every aspect of the martial art. I found a new drive and purpose that I hadn’t had before.
After earning my blue belt,  I began assisting and coaching in the fundamentals classes and in 2025, I would go on to teach the Saturday morning all-ranks class. I quickly found that the only thing I enjoyed more than practicing jiu jitsu was teaching it.
I have been very grateful for what jiu jitsu and our team here have done and provided for me both on and off the mats. Truly, I am excited each day to see where the journey takes me.
Gabriel Plank in a gi

Gabriel Plank

Instructor

My name is Gabe Plank and I have been training Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai since 2019. I have made a point in my martial arts journey to train in both disciplines because it is important to me to be a well rounded fighter. I was promoted to purple belt in BJJ in September of 2025, and participated in a Thai Boxing Association tournament in June of 2025 in my amateur debut. I enjoy competing, however, my main focus in training is to learn and share my knowledge as I aspire to be a true martial artist.
You can see me at the Muay Thai classes.
